Sridevi wanted Khushi to shine as an actress, not Janhvi Kapoor
Late actress Sridevi, renowned for her exceptional contributions to Indian cinema, had specific aspirations for her daughters, Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor. Although both have ventured into Bollywood, it was Khushi who Sridevi envisioned as an actress rather than Janhvi.
Janhvi Kapoor made her film debut with Dhadak, which received positive feedback. Her career continued to rise with roles in films like Gunjan Saxena, Mili, and Mr and Mrs Mahi. Despite facing physical challenges and injuries while filming Gunjan Saxena and Mr and Mrs Mahi, Janhvi’s dedication was evident, and her performances garnered significant praise. Currently, she is expanding her career into Tollywood with an upcoming film alongside Jr. NTR, adding to her impressive lineup of projects.
In contrast, Khushi Kapoor’s entry into Bollywood was marked by her role in Archies, directed by Zoya Akhtar. While the film faced criticism, Khushi has managed to secure more film offers, indicating a promising start to her career.

What’s interesting is that in various interviews, Janhvi has shared that Sridevi initially did not support her choice to become an actress. Sridevi was aware of the challenges of the film industry and preferred Janhvi pursue a different career, such as medicine. Despite Sridevi’s reluctance, Janhvi followed her passion for acting.
Janhvi revealed that Sridevi was more inclined towards Khushi becoming an actress. She explained that Sridevi believed Khushi, being more independent and resilient, was better suited for the demanding industry. In contrast, Sridevi felt Janhvi was too naive for the hardships of an acting caree.
