This emotional drama of a retired theatre artiste was hailed all over by media and audiences when it first screened in a private show before the film’s release. Media persons equivocally vouched for the portrayal of characters sending out a subtle message of family bondings of a grim picture of today’s changing world.
But when the film was released in theatres, ironically, no one wished to go and watch it. ‘Rangamarthanda’ received very little footfall in various regions of Telugu States. So, film exhibitors pulled it off the screens as there was no business. Now after a few weeks, the film was released on the OTT platform, and surprisingly, very few people liked it.
The makers and cast/crew thought the film would receive praise from OTT viewership but the expectations have been dashed. Why hasn’t the film fared well? Why do audiences not like it? The reason could be the story is not relatable to today’s fast-paced world. Although Krishna Vamsi tried to portray the present-day family structure and people’s preferences, he was too archaic in narrating the story.
