Plot
Vidya Vincent(Vidya Balan) gets appointed as a deputy forest officer in Bijaspur. She takes charge and starts to do things in her own way. But things get out of hand as the bosses and politics do not allow her. Things become tough for her as a tigress kills one of the villagers and hell breaks loose. Many want to kill the tigress and Vidya should do a duty to save her. How will she do it is the story.
Performances
Vidya Balan is good in her role but she is not the best. She looks dull and does not have fire in her body language. The command that she portrays in all her previous films is missing. Vijay Raaz is very good in his role as a professor who is doing research on moths. The rest of the cast are new and do a good job in their supporting roles.
Analysis
The film deals with the problems the forest officers face when the government starts dominating them. The basic plot is nicely brought in the frame and things look interesting. The manner in which Vidya Balan gets restless in her job is shown so well.
The small town politics, forest animals, and their issues have been showcased to a point. But the film suffers from good thrill or drama and has a feeling of a documentary. The camera work and locations are impressive and things have been kept real aesthetics wise.
Vidya Balan is also lost in her own way and probably, she also knew that there is nothing much going in the story and that is the reason, she also sleepwalks in the film. In a nutshell, Sherni is a film that looks dull and has all the basic aspects of drama and thrill missing.
Bottom Line – Dead Slow and Boring
