YS Sharmila has been persistently attacking her brother YS Jagan since she returned to Andhra Pradesh politics. Her criticism has been intense often surpassing that of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). Despite the elections being over, Sharmila continues her vigorous critique of Jagan making it difficult for him to focus solely on countering the TDP.
The leaders of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and Jagan are frustrated, feeling that he should be addressing the ruling government rather than dealing with his sister’s relentless attacks. Jagan has responded to Sharmila’s comments and tweets through his social media accounts but this has not deterred her.

For the past two days, Sharmila has been tweeting angrily at her brother. A recent tweet from the YSRCP’s official account labeled Sharmila as Chandrababu Naidu’s stooge which has become a hot topic of discussion. Sharmila in turn accused the YSRCP social media team of being scared of Naidu. She sarcastically commented that if YSRCP members looked in the mirror they would see Chandra Babu Naidu’s image.
Sharmila has directly challenged YS Jagan to resign as MLA due to his absence from the Assembly. She has also redefined the acronym YSRCP stating that Y stands for YV Subba Reddy, S for Sai Reddy, and R for Rama Krishna Reddy implying there is no place for their father YSR in the party anymore.
There seems to be no immediate political gain for Sharmila in attacking YS Jagan post-election. Some speculate that she fears Jagan might ally with the INDIA coalition which could undermine her position.
