Actor Gopichand’s next film Seetimaarr is the latest addition among several Telugu films that are planning to return to action in the coming months. The Sampath Nandi directorial (that stars Tamannaah as the female lead) is extremely crucial for the careers of its filmmaker and male lead, who’ve suffered a spate of flops in the recent past. Seetimaarr is a sports drama in the making, whose shoot is likely to resume in the first week of August, the producer Srinivasaa Chhitturi of Srinivasaa Silver Screen banner had confirmed earlier today.
On the lines of Bigil and Chak De India, the protagonist in Seetimaarr would be seen coaching a female Kabaddi team hailing from Andhra Pradesh, while Tamannah plays the role of a coach for the Telangana Kabaddi team. The backdrop is certainly interesting, given the comical instances or the subtle tension between the Telugu states that may arise. The film had wrapped 60% of its shoot across three schedules prior to the lockdown and the August schedule is expected to be the final schedule.
In times of social distancing where the fear for the virus is increasing by the day, one wonders how the makers would shoot sequences pertaining to a sport like Kabaddi where human touch is inevitable. It would also be a challenge to rope in actors beyond the Telugu states, owing to the fact that Seetimaarr also features top technicians like Soundar Rajan and names like Digangana Suryavanshi, Bhumika, Rehman and Tarun Arora (who need to arrive from different parts of the country).
Provided the makers pull off this schedule well with all the precautionary measures, it is certain to instil more confidence in the film fraternity about returning to shoots. Mani Sharma composes music for Seetimaarr and it is heard he’s composed four songs for the film already.
