Samantha joins Kabir Singh Controversy

Upon the release of the movie Kabir Singh, there came an unexpected criticism on the movie. Everyone in Bollywood found fault with the movie, calling Kabir Singh as a violent movie that can cause harm to society. Most of the critics in the Hindi film industry have given less ratings to the movie. And now Samantha Akkineni has joined the bandwagon of criticising filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanag’s toxic masculinity.

Samantha in her Instagram posted Sandeep picture and wrote, “deeply disturbing” for his comments that violence is accepted in love. Soon, her old post hailing Arjun Reddy was posted and dubbed Sam as ‘double standard”. Soon, Samantha clarifies about her old post stating, “Liking the film .. and disagreeing with a comment are two different things . I loved the story of one ‘Arjun Reddy’ .. not the generalisation that love means having the liberty of slapping people around”.

In the interview, Sandeep told critic Anupama Chopra that “When you are deeply in love and deeply connected to a woman (and vice versa), if you don’t have the liberty of slapping each other, then I don’t see anything there.”

He went on to slam critics calling them as parasites, “Probably they never experienced (love) in the right way. It’s new to them.” He added, “For the Telugu film, people criticised numerous aspects in the film. But here, they were only on the feminist side, they didn’t speak about anything else. They probably hate me,” he said.

Talking about a scene in the film where Kabir Singh physically assaults his girlfriend Preeti, Vanga said, “She slapped him without a reason, at least Kabir had a reason to slap her. If you can’t slap, if you can’t touch your woman wherever you want, if you can’t kiss, I don’t see emotion there.”
