In a recent post on social media, a school fee receipt has caught everyone’s attention because it shows a big increase in fees. The receipt is from a school in Bachupally. They charged whopping amount of 2.24 lakh rupees for UKG for academic year 2023-2024.
This huge jump in fees for UKG students has worried many parents. Some people say that most of the corporate schools in Hyderabad justified the increase by pointing to higher salaries for teachers.
People on social media are talking about it too. They’re surprised and upset. Some joke that if UKG costs this much, soon people will have to sell their kidneys to afford an engineering course. Others worry that schools will start offering payment plans like EMI, which could trap families in debt.
Parents are especially concerned because this isn’t the only school raising fees. On average, fees have gone up by 10%-12% this year. With fees already in the lakhs, many families find it hard to afford.
But school administrators say these fee hikes are necessary. They argue that they need to pay teachers more to keep them from leaving. With more schools opening up, they have to compete for good teachers. And since teacher salaries make up a big part of their expenses, they need to raise fees to cover them.
So, while parents worry about the rising cost of education, schools say they have no choice but to increase fees to keep up with the times.
