After creating magic on screen in Roja, artists Arvind Swamy and Madhoo Shah will be seen as a couple again in Kangana Ranaut starrer Thalaivi. This is happening after 28 years on the screen when their first film together Roja released. It was directed by Mani Ratnam and marked composer AR Rahman’s debut in Kollywood. Now in this A L Vijay directorial, Madhoo will play late politician-actor MG Ramachandran aka MGR’s wife Janaki Devi.
Arvind Swamy is reprising the role of MGR in the film. Thalaivi’ is a film based on the life of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. Janaki Devi was MG Ramachandran’s third wife. She was married to him for about two decades from 1963 to 1987. She passed away on May 19, 1996. Before joining the shoot, Shah was encouraged to watch video clips of Janaki Devi in order to successfully assume the role.The film ‘Thalaivi’ is being split into two parts. The first part of Thalaivi, produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Shaailesh R Singh will release in 2021.
