Not knowing this, the friends enter the village only to find out that they are stuck in the faction wars of Rayalaseema. Upon this, there is a scare of the zombies that start attacking the whole village. How do Mario and his gang survive this crazy situation is the crux of Zombie Reddy.
Performances
Zombie Reddy is a film that has a very good supporting cast and Prashanth Varma extracts good performances from them. Teja Sajja, the young hero looks quite confident on-screen. Though he has a big role to carry, the debutante does well. It was good to see Anandi in a Telugu film after a long time and she was super impressive. Hope she gets meaty roles from here on.
Daksha Nagarkar is also cute in her crazy role. Her stunts were good to see. Getup Sreenu is a very underrated actor and he showed his brilliance in the film. The rest of the cast were apt for their roles. Kireeti and Hemanth do well in their small parts.
Analysis
Zombie Reddy is a film where Hollywood meets Seema backdrop. There is an intriguing factor in this but things will only work where there are good comedy and action in it. All those who think this is a serious zombie film can be disappointed as the zombie concept has been showcased more in a fun manner than as a thriller. Things are started very slow and the premise is set only at the time of interval.
But once this happens, the viewers are decently engaged. There are good thrills, comedy, and moreover, the emotions are intact. Each of the characters is given a lot of justice and the dots are connected so well. But the zombie concept goes for a beating as there is no depth in why things are happening. The post-interval graph of the film is very good. Perhaps, the director only wanted to narrate things in a fun way than a serious affair.
This is where he scores points as the makeup, camerawork, and aesthetics are perfect. The BGM adds to the effect and there is not much of a dull moment. As the hype is so much, the viewer feels there is something exciting that will be shown but that does not . In a nutshell, Zombie Reddy is of few laughs and a few thrills that can kill your time.
