Coronavirus
Ever since the lockdown has happened, so many films are coming out on the OTT platforms. But the first film in India to be made on Covid itself was Coronavirus which was produced by Ram Gopal Varma. The film is out in theatres and reads on to see if it has any spine or not.
Coronavirus

Plot

The film is set during the lockdown period. Things go haywire when the lockdown is announced. Anand Rao(Srikanth Iyengar) is a middle-class man who gets scared to death about this virus. But things go down when his daughter, Shanthi(Sonia Akula) starts showing symptoms. This changes things and disturbs the family. How did Anand Rao react to the situation and how did he come out of the scare forms the story of Coronavirus.

Actors and Performances

Srikanth Iyengar is turning out to be one hell of an actor. With each passing film, he is showing great grit and ease in front of the camera. He as a scared family head, who does not know what to do and how to react does well in the film. His frustration levels have been captured well in the film. Dakshi Guttikonda, the Telugu girl is quite impressive in her small but good supporting role. The supporting cast played by Vamsi Chaganti and Sonia are also neatly used in the setup. The rest of the cast does not have much to do.

Analysis

The good point here is that RGV does not direct the film and his assistant Agastya Manju has made it. That is the reason, the film has made some sense in many areas. The way the pandemic is announced, lockdown rules, and how it leaves many clueless has nicely been registered in the film. Like in all RGV films, the shot-making and camera angles showcasing the emotions are also handled well for the most part. The manner in which the family gets disturbed is also brought nicely. But once this happens, the makers do not have much to show and start repeating the scenes. This makes the film boring as in the form of the scare, the scenes get forced on us.

The manner in which the authorities also handle this without any knowledge is shown well. But the main drawback is that the film should have come long back. Now that everyone is out and lockdown is lifted, the film does not make that kind of an impact and ends on a very predictable note. In a nutshell, RGV’s Coronavirus has some good moments but the ending and timing of the release are wrong.
