Bhoomi is Jayam Ravi’s new film that has come out on the OTT platform Disney Hotstar. The film is a village drama and marks the debut of Niddhi Agerwal in Tamil. Read our review to find out if the film is worth watching or not.
Plot
Bhoominathan(Jayam Ravi) is a scientist at NASA and is going on a big mission to Mars. Just before his big journey, he visits his native place. But upon his arrival, he meets the love of his life Shakthi(Niddhi Agerwal) and also stumbles upon so many problems in his village related to agriculture. Upset with the sad state, he decides to stay back and make a change in the agriculture field. Did he manage to do that or not forms the story.
Performances
Jayam Ravi tries hard to play SRK from Swades in his film but he looks sleepy and also yawns in the film. Right from his hairstyle to the screen presence, the Tamil actor looks dull. Niddhi Agerwal is a lot better and has a good role. She looks fresh and manages to give an impression. Ronit Roy plays the villain and he is no match in the film and hams to another level altogether. Radha Ravi and others do a decent job and save the film which is filled with heavy Tamil flavor.
Analysis
Let us warn you by telling you that Bhoomi is a freemake of Swades and Srimanthdud. The film is heavily inspired and has so many same scenes related to the above movie. An NRI coming down to India and taking care of his land has been showcased in so many films. But the director has tried the same here as well and this is where the film goes for a toss.
Jayam Ravi coming down to India and deciding to fight against the baddies to encourage agriculture looks good and is also established well. But from there, the film goes downhills. The dialogues, narration, and the way the emotions are showcased looks so fake. The film is a never-ending tale of over-the-top scenes and will bore you no matter waht. So, just try hard not to watch this film.
