Deva Katta is once again ready with a social drama called Republic. Read our review to find out if the film has any juice in it or not.
Plot
Abhiram played by Sai Tej is a man who does not resist irregularities in the system. For this reason, he joins IAS and gets posted to his own hometown. But there, a big issue of a lake haunts him. Upon this, Vishaka Vani played by Ramya Krishna causes more tensions. How Abiram takes on her and clears faults in the system is the story of Republic.
Performances
Sai Tej gives his career best for the film and is apt as the IAS officer. Deva Katta has extracted good performance from Tej. Aishwarya Rajesh is apt in her role but gets sidelined after a while.
Jagapathi Babu gets an important role and he does well as Tej’s dad. Ramya Krishna is very good but her role is not given that much of an importance in the film. Rest of the supporting cast was decent.
Analysis
The film has very relavant subject and is justifiable to today’s issues. Deva Katta draws a good drama in the film and joints all the links well.
But his narration is a bit jaded. One good scene is marred by a very dull track and that is core of the problem of Republic. BGM is bad but the way camera department works is quite good.
The asthetics of the film are showcased quite well in the film. The first half of the film is dull and is dragged. But all that is made up with good drama in the second. The story is neat and the film is also given a conclusive justification.
Overall, Republic has some decent drama and is passable work from Deva Katta. If you manage to sit through the slow first half, things get interesting in the latter part and makes this film watchable.
Bottom Line
Relavant and sincere
