Ravi Teja’s box office blues: A look at the collections of his last five releases

1. Rama Rao On Duty (2022)
Directed by Sarath Mandava, Rama Rao On Duty was expected to be a hit but ended up struggling. The film had a break-even target of ₹18 crores but could only manage a collection of ₹5.19 crores. This disappointing performance highlighted a significant drop from Ravi Teja’s previous successes.

2. Dhamaka (2022)
Dhamaka, directed by Trinath Rao Nakkina, was a notable exception in Ravi Teja’s recent lineup. The film was a major success, grossing ₹44 crores against a target of ₹20.7 crores. This blockbuster performance provided a much-needed boost to Ravi Teja’s career and showcased his enduring popularity with audiences.

3. Ravanasura (2023)
Directed by Sudheer Varma, Ravanasura collected ₹23.2 crores worldwide. While it did manage to create some buzz, the film faced stiff competition and struggled to reach break even.

4. Tiger Nageswara Rao (2023)
This film, which was expected to attract significant attention earned ₹37.2 crores. Despite the intriguing premise, it struggled to make a substantial impact further adding to the list of Ravi Teja’s underperforming recent releases.

5. Mr Bachchan (2023)
Directed by Ramesh Varma, Mr Bachchan had a lukewarm reception. On its opening day, it earned ₹5.25 crores including ₹1.80 crores from paid previews. With an additional ₹1.50 crores from overseas markets, the global total reached ₹7.50 crores. On day 2 film just earned ₹1.50 crores. Despite its efforts, the film failed to make a significant splash continuing the trend of underwhelming performances for Ravi Teja’s recent films.

Ravi Teja’s recent films show his struggle at the box office. While Dhamaka stands out as a significant hit, the other four films—Rama Rao On Duty, Ravanasura, Tiger Nageswara Rao, and Mr Bachchan—have not achieved the same level of success. With the recent box office results showing a decline in performance, it’s high time for Ravi Teja to focus on script selection. To reclaim his former success, he needs to be more discerning in choosing projects that offer strong and engaging content.
