Rangamarthanda Review

Plot

For his immense contribution to the world of theater, Ranga Rao(Prakash Raj) is given a lifetime achievement award of Rangamarthanda. He then retires from acting but gets caught in a series of family feuds, which break him from the inside. His daughter(Shivatmika) and son(Aadarsh Balakrishna) do not treat him well and create a big fuss in the family. How Ranga Rao copes with all this is the story of Rangamarthanda.

Performances

Rangamarthanda is high on performances. Prakash Raj plays the main role and it has been so many days since he got a role to perform the way he did. His voice, emotions, and powerful dialogues are just amazing. Brahmanandam is the surprise package and his emotional outbursts in the second half will also make you emotional. Aadarsh Balakrishna is superb in his role. Anasuya is always amazing in whatever she gets and here in this film, she kills it with her voice and command. Ramya Krishna has an able role in the film and does well. Rahul Sipligunj who makes his acting debut is also quite good in his role.

Rangamarthanda Movie Analysis

Krishna Vamsi is a master when it comes to evoking emotions. He does the same in Rangamathanda. The manner in which he evokes emotions from the story is so good and holds your attention in the second half. The family drama set in modern times looks old-fashioned and this is the only issue in the film and might not go well for today’s youth.

The film has so many scenes that catch your imagination. The scenes between Prakash Raj and Brahmanandam in the pre-climax and the way the great actor is treated badly by his family are there for us all to see. Such stories have been there for so much time already and Krishna Vamsi does not show anything novel here.

Rangamarthanda Movie

Ilayaraja has given life to the film with his music and BGM. It is soothing and the pathos factor is created so well. The visuals and set work is old school and look a bit over the top in some areas. There are also so many scenes where the actors overact for no reason. This was no needed at all. The pace is so slow and the editing is very bad.

The second half makes good sense and has scenes that will make you love the film. In a way, Rangamarthanda is a film that has beautiful emotions but the pacing is slow. If you are okay with this aspect, you will end up enjoying this film which is well made and has great performances

Bottom Line -Routine Story with solid performances

Rangamarthanda Movie Rating: 3/5
