Rana calls Samantha his sister after divorce from Naga Chaitanya
Rana Daggubati and Samantha Ruth Prabhu share a close bond, both professionally and personally. Although Samantha was once his sister-in-law, during her marriage to Naga Chaitanya, she is now like a sister to him. Recently, during an award ceremony, the two of them had a fun interaction that caught everyone’s attention.
Samantha received a special award at the event, and Rana joined her on stage. He joked about how she transitioned from Tollywood to Hollywood, and humorously added that Samantha also moved from being his sister-in-law to his sister. This playful comment made the audience laugh.

Rana also recalled a childhood memory when he used to call her “Samantha Ruthless Prabhu” and jokingly asked where her comedic side had gone. In response, Samantha explained that her fun-loving side had evolved over time, suggesting that she had become more serious as she grew older.
For those unfamiliar, Rana Daggubati is Naga Chaitanya’s cousin from his mother’s side, and despite Samantha’s divorce from Naga Chaitanya, Rana and Samantha have remained close friends.
In a related topic, there have been reports suggesting that Naga Chaitanya’s recent engagement to Sobhita Dhulipala may have caused some tension between the Akkineni and Daggubati families. The Daggubati family has reportedly not shown support for the new engagement, and interestingly, none of them follow Sobhita on social media. This has led to speculation about possible family disagreements.
Naga Chaitanya and Sobhita Dhulipala got engaged in August 2024, though the date of their wedding has yet to be confirmed.
