Rajinikanth Vettaiyan locks its OTT release date
The action drama film Vettaiyan, featuring Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, and Fahadh Faasil, was released in theaters on October 10, coinciding with Dussehra. After a successful run, it is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on November 8. The streaming platform confirmed this exciting news on their social media.
Directed by TJ Gnanavel, Vettaiyan has grossed around ₹250 crore worldwide, largely due to Rajinikanth’s enormous fan base. The film earned approximately ₹183 crore during its opening weekend but faced challenges in maintaining that momentum afterward.

The story revolves around SP Athiyan IPS, known as Vettaiyan because of his reputation among criminals. He lives with his wife and nephew in Kanyakumari. Amitabh Bachchan plays SC Justice Sathyadev, a character who advocates for human rights and opposes police encounters.
There are plans for a prequel titled Vettaiyan: The Hunter. The director expressed interest in exploring Athiyan’s backstory and the transformation of Fahadh Faasil’s character from a thief to a police informant.
In addition to the lead actors, the film features notable performances from Manju Warrier, Dushara Vijayan, and Rana Daggubati.
