Rajinikanth and Dhanush finally teaming up for Jailer 2?Here’s what we know
Recently, there has been a lot of excitement among fans about the possibility of Dhanush joining the cast of Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Jailer 2. Rumors were circulating that director Nelson had written a special role for Dhanush and that Rajinikanth had agreed to it.
However, after looking into the matter, it seems these rumors are not true. A source close to Dhanush clarified that no such discussions have taken place. The source said, “Nothing like this has happened, and Dhanush is busy with his current projects.”
At the moment, Dhanush is focused on his film Idli Kadai, where he is both acting and directing. After finishing this project, he plans to work on other commitments, including promoting Kubera, a biopic on the music composer Ilayaraja, as well as working on a Bollywood movie titled Tere Ishk Mein, directed by Anand L. Rai.
An insider shared that every actor dreams of working with Rajinikanth, and Dhanush is no different. He has long wanted to act alongside the superstar. In fact, there were talks about the two working together during the making of Kaala, but the collaboration did not happen for reasons that remain unknown.
Although Nelson is currently writing the script for Jailer 2, the idea of Rajinikanth and Dhanush working together seems unlikely at this point, especially after Dhanush’s separation from Aishwarya, Rajinikanth’s daughter. However, with Nelson’s creativity and Sun Pictures’ support, a future collaboration could still happen, which would be a major highlight for Tamil cinema.
Rajinikanth will once again team up with Nelson Dilipkumar for the sequel to the blockbuster Jailer (2023). In Jailer 2, Rajinikanth will return as Muthuvel Pandian, a retired prison guard who takes on a new case. Filming is set to begin in the summer of 2025 under the production of Sun Pictures.
Currently, Rajinikanth is busy working on Coolie, a film directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, while Dhanush is fully involved in Idli Kadai.
