Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth to collaborate: In a recent interview, Kamal Haasan talked about the possibility of working with Rajinikanth. He shared memories of their early days reminiscing about times when Rajinikanth would ride on the back of his motorcycle through streets where their offices are now located.
Kamal Haasan recounted a recent conversation with Rajinikanth, saying, “Jump to 40 years later, we’re standing on the 4th floor of a building that didn’t exist back then. Rajinikanth suggested we finally make a movie together, and I said Raaj Kamal is always ready.” Kamal Haasan said that this potential collaboration shouldn’t be about money or status but about recapturing the spirit of their early days together.

In the same interview, Kamal Haasan was asked why he didn’t pursue the idea of making Robot with Shankar in the 90s after the initial look test. Kamal Haasan explained, “I-Robot was based on an English novel. We (Kamal Haasan, Shankar, and writer Sujatha) discussed various ideas, and Sujatha thought I should do it. We even did some testing. However, the film industry is complex with many business considerations, including my remuneration, availability, and the market at that time. I wasn’t very keen on it, so I dropped the project. But my friend Shankar picked it up quickly and made it a huge success. That’s how simple it is. An idea is an idea; anyone can take it and succeed if the timing is right.”
Kamal Haasan, who is known for playing a wide range of characters, recently appeared in ‘Kalki 2898 AD.’ In this movie, he plays Supreme Yaskin, a powerful, god-like figure ruling over Kasi’s last city in a futuristic, dystopian world. His next role in ‘Indian 2’ has him returning as Senapathy, a vigilante character, in a film directed by Shankar and produced by Lyca Productions, scheduled for a worldwide release on July 12, 2024.
