Since today, there were reports suggesting a preference for Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dunki’ over Prabhas’ ‘Salaar’ in the Northern regions. This led the producers of ‘Salaar’ to withhold the film from certain theaters like PVR-Inox and Miraj. However, PVR has now come forward to provide reassurance and clarity on the matter.
Kamal Gianchandani, President of the Multiplex Association of India and a key figure at PVR Ltd, addressed the controversy surrounding ‘Salaar’ at PVR Inox. He debunked the allegations of unfair showcasing practices, emphasizing their respect for all producers selecting their theaters. Gianchandani highlighted that disagreements often arise in business, especially with major film releases, and assured that this situation isn’t uncommon. He urged everyone to disregard the baseless rumors and theories circulating online.
PVR’s official statement aims to restore confidence and optimism, signaling that the issues around showcasing ‘Salaar’ will be resolved positively. This assurance is particularly comforting for movie enthusiasts, offering hope that the situation will normalize soon.
For the unversed, today morning Chaluve Gowda of Hombale Films, the production house behind Salaar, confirmed to the news portal that Prabhas Salaar will not be released in PVR-Inox, and Miraj outlets in some locations due to perceived unfair treatment. He revealed that this decision means Salaar will not be released in the outlets of these national chains in the South. Additionally, Gowda accused these exhibitors of entirely sidelining Salaar in favour of SRK’s Dunki in some outlets.
