Amazon Prime Video has announced Putham Pudhu Kaalai, an anthology of five Tamil short films filmed during the pandemic and featuring stories about hope and new beginnings. The anthology includes 5 short films. The films have been directed by Sudha Kongara, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Rajiv Menon and Karthik Subbaraj.
Sudha Kongara’s short titled Ilamai Idho Idho stars Jayaram, his son Kalidas Jayaram, Urvashi and Kalyani Priyadarshan. Avarum Naanum/Avalum Naanum, directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon features M.S. Bhaskar and Ritu Varma. Coffee, Anyone?, directed by Suhasini Mani Ratnam, also has her sharing screen space with Anu Hasan and Shruti Haasan. Reunion directed by Rajiv Menon brings together Andrea, Leela Samson and classical singer Sikkhil Gurucharan. Miracle, directed by Karthik Subbaraj comprises Bobby Simha and Muthu Kumar in pivotal roles.
The anthology is a first-of-its-kind venture for Amazon Prime Video in Indian films, following release of films like Nishabdham, Penguin, and Ponmagal Vandhal. Putham Pudhu Kaalai will begin streaming from October 16. Putham Pudhu Kaalai was shot in compliance with rules and regulations set by the Film Employees’ Federation of South India (FEFSI) for filming during the ‘Unlock’ phase.
