Pushpa 2 midnight shows cancelled; details inside
The much-anticipated Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, is set to release on December 5, 2024. However, fans in Bengaluru were surprised by the district collector’s sudden decision to cancel midnight shows.
The Kannada Film Producers Association filed a petition against midnight screenings of the movie. They argued that Kannada films traditionally don’t premiere before 6 AM, and the same should apply to Pushpa 2. Additionally, high ticket prices for midnight and premiere screenings were reportedly a concern. These reasons prompted the district collector to deny permission for the shows just hours before the movie’s release.
Finally the law will be followed. Shows of #Pushpa2 before 6.30 am stand cancelled by the Deputy Commissioner of Bengaluru. Warns of legal action against 42 theatres that had announced shows before 6.30 am. https://t.co/OE7NUu0kLM pic.twitter.com/CsD6bm3KwB

While Bengaluru imposed restrictions, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana took a different route. Both states approved additional screenings through a government order and allowed ticket price hikes, ensuring fans could enjoy the film without delays.
Pushpa 2: The Rule continues the story of Pushparaju and his rise in the red sandalwood smuggling world. The sequel picks up from the first film’s cliffhanger, exploring the rivalry between Pushpa and police officer Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat. The movie features Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, Fahadh Faasil, and others in key roles.
The makers have already announced a third installment, Pushpa 3: The Rampage. In a recent interview, the dialogue writer promised that the sequel will be even grander than its predecessors.
This latest controversy hasn’t dampened excitement for Pushpa 2, which is expected to draw massive audiences despite the challenges in Bengaluru.
