Pushpa 2 causes major setback to Sankranthi releases
The recent tragedy at Sandhya Theater during the premiere of *Pushpa 2: The Rule*, starring Allu Arjun, has raised serious concerns. A woman named Revathi lost her life in a stampede, prompting widespread discussions about safety at such events. Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy addressed the issue, expressing his condolences to the victim’s family and criticizing the events that led to the mishap.
The minister announced a ban on benefit shows to prevent similar tragedies in the future. He also urged the producers and Allu Arjun to support the grieving family and demanded compensation of ₹25 lakhs for the victims.
This decision is likely to impact the Sankranthi movie releases. Major films like Ram Charan’s *Gamechanger* (releasing January 10), Balakrishna’s *Daku Maharaj*, and Venkatesh’s *Sankranthi Ki Vastunnam* traditionally rely on special shows for early hype and increased revenue. Without benefit shows, these films may face challenges in reaching their audience as effectively.
Big-budget projects like *Gamechanger* often depend on premieres for added earnings, and the absence of such shows could affect their box office performance. It remains to be seen if the situation changes before these much-anticipated films hit theaters.
