Purushothamudu OTT: Young Tollywood actor Raj Tarun’s recent film Purushothamudu is set for its OTT release following a lukewarm response at the box office. The film which hit theaters on July 26 struggled to impress both critics and audiences. Directed by Ram Bhimana this action-comedy film did not perform as expected despite its star-studded cast and interesting premise.
For those who missed the movie in theaters, there’s good news: Purushothamudu will start streaming on Aha on August 29. The popular OTT platform officially confirmed the release date on August 26 encouraging viewers to experience the movie’s theme of “the power of courage.”
The film stars Raj Tarun as Rachit Ram, a young man who returns to India after studying in London. Upon his return his father Aditya Ram (played by Murali Sharma) wants him to take over the family business as CEO. However, Rachit’s grandmother Vasundhara (played by Ramya Krishna) insists on following a family tradition: before becoming CEO, he must live as a common man for 100 days. This challenge takes him to the rural village of Rayapulanka, where he works as a laborer and falls in love with Ammu (played by Hasini Sudheer). The story follows Rachit’s journey as he navigates the difficulties of village life, his romantic relationship, and the quest to prove himself worthy of the CEO title.
Apart from Raj Tarun, the film features prominent actors like Prakash Raj, Ramya Krishna, Murali Sharma, and Brahmanandam, all in key roles. The movie blends elements of action, comedy, and romance, delivering a mix that aims to entertain a broad audience.
Purushothamudu is produced by Ramesh Tejawat and Prakash Tejawat under the Sri Sridevi Productions banner. The music is composed by Gopi Sundar while PG Vinda handles the cinematography capturing both the urban and rural settings effectively. Marthand K Venkatesh known for his skillful editing, ensures that the film maintains a smooth flow.
Despite the strong cast and engaging storyline, Purushothamudu struggled at the box office. The film received mixed reviews with some appreciating the performances while others criticized the movie’s execution and narrative. For Raj Tarun, this film was seen as an opportunity to deliver a much-needed hit but it didn’t quite achieve the success he had hoped for.
Adding to the actor’s professional challenges, his subsequent release Thiragabadara Saami, also underperformed at the box office after its release on August 2. Furthermore, Raj Tarun has faced personal controversies including accusations from Lavanya who claimed he misled her with promises of marriage. These allegations have further complicated his public image impacting his career.
