The most extravagant undertaking in the history of Indian cinema, originally referred to as “Project K” and featuring Prabhas as the lead has finally been given a definitive title – “Kalki 2898 AD”. Following the awe-inspiring teaser launch at the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC), rumors are circulating that the film’s release date is being reconsidered.
Initially, the makers had announced a release date of January 12, 2024. However, many industry insiders speculated that this might not be feasible, considering Prabhas’s ongoing commitments with Salaar. Thus, trade analysts had anticipated a potential postponement ever since the release date was first declared.
According to recent speculations, the film’s release is likely to be shifted to May 9, 2024. Reports indicate that Ashwini Dutt, the film’s producer, is advocating for a May 9 release due to the special significance of this date to him.
Some notable successes from his banner on the same date include “Jagadekaveerudu Athiloka Sundari,” starring Chiranjeevi and Sridevi, “Mahanati,” starring Keerthy Suresh and Dulquer Salmaan, and “Maharshi,” starring Mahesh Babu. All of them achieved extraordinary milestones at the box office.
Additionally, as the film’s VFX work is still pending, the makers have taken all these factors into account, leading to the decision to lock in May 9, 2024, as the official release date for “Kalki 2898 AD.”
