Priyanka Trivedi Upendra, who was once the most happening star in late 90’s and early 2000s, is making comeback with a detective drama. The actress has made a mark in Bengali, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada languages. After a long gap, she is back to test her luck on the silver screen with a detective story titled ‘Detective Theekshanaa’. The makers unveiled the first look poster of the film in which she is holding a gun.
The film also marks her landmark 50th film. ‘Detective Theekshanaa’ is being directed by Trivikram Raghu while producers Gutha Muni Prasanna, G. Muni Venkat Charan and Purushottam B are bankrolling the project.
Explaining how ‘Detective Theekshanaa’ inspires women, the actress says, “The film is an inspiration for young girls. ‘Detective Theekshanaa’ is one-of-its-kind of film where audiences get to watch sheroes as the protagonist. This will definitely leave a positive impact on them after watching how women can be so powerful, intelligent, brave and solve crimes just like men do. That’s one part and another thing is exploring other genres which makes the film commercially viable at the box office,” she says.
On adding what made her choose director Raghu to helm the project. “His passion and hard work is what piqued my interest. I have already worked with him and I know his dedication towards the craft. When he told me a one-liner about the film, I got connected. Because it wasn’t done before with a woman protagonist. So, instantly Byomkesh Bakshi, and Nancy Drew, came to my mind. Again it reflects powerful, intelligent, brave women. Raghu has a very good vision. I knew about Raghu, and how hard he worked to manifest his vision onscreen. In the first two days when I saw the output, I knew I made the right decision. The whole team is really good. My kids are super excited to see me in this role,” added Priyanka.
