Prithviraj Sukumaran criticizes Vijay and Allu Arjun: Prithviraj Sukumaran known for his candidness has found himself at the center of a social media storm due to his past comments about the movies of Thalapathy Vijay and Allu Arjun. These remarks which criticized the artistic merit of their films have resurfaced online igniting discussions among fans and the film community.
In a previous interview, Prithviraj expressed his frustration over the popularity of Vijay and Allu Arjun’s movies in Kerala which he felt lacked aesthetic and narrative quality. He urged Kerala’s moviegoers to demand higher standards in cinema and not support films that prioritize songs and dance over storytelling.

“Everyone praises movies like ‘Subramaniapuram,’ but the same people watch films by Vijay and Allu Arjun. Frankly, their films have very poor aesthetics and lack good storytelling. However, distributors in Kerala buy these movies for high prices because we, the audience, encourage them by watching films filled with songs and dance. We need to change this,” Prithviraj had said.
A short clip from this interview has gone viral, leading to mixed reactions. Fans of Vijay and Allu Arjun, who enjoy a significant following in Kerala, were quick to defend their favorite stars. Some critics pointed out the irony that Prithviraj had distributed Vijay’s 2019 film “Bigil” in Kerala, which contradicted his earlier stance.
Vijay and Allu Arjun have consistently drawn large audiences in Kerala, often outperforming local Malayalam stars like Mohanlal and Mammootty. This popularity has posed challenges for Malayalam filmmakers, including Prithviraj who compete for the same audience.
In an interview of #PrithiviRaj ,he states that
“ #ThalapathyVijay & #AlluArjun movies have bad aesthetics ,not at all good story or cinema , it have only songs&dance , people shouldn’t give courage for distributors for buy& don’t promote their movies“

Interestingly, Prithviraj’s perspective on cinema seems to have evolved. While he still champions artistic films like “Aadujeevitham,” he has also embraced commercial cinema that includes dance and song sequences. This shift indicates a broader understanding and acceptance of diverse cinematic styles.
Prithviraj’s comments have reopened discussions on what constitutes good cinema and the role of aesthetics and narrative quality in mainstream films. His candidness, while sometimes controversial, continues to provoke thought and debate within the film industry and among audiences.
