The much-anticipated movie ‘Salaar’, starring Prabhas, is gearing up for a release in multiple languages on December 22. It’s going head-to-head with Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dunki’. Ahead of ‘Salaar’s’ release, rumors circulated about its potential ties to the Kannada film ‘Ugramm’, directed by Prashanth Neel in 2014. This speculation has piqued curiosity, sparking discussions on whether ‘Salaar’ is a remake of ‘Ugramm’ or not.
In a recent interview, Prashanth Neel discussed his vision for ‘Salaar’, aiming for it to achieve similar success to ‘KGF’. He clarified that ‘Salaar’ isn’t a direct remake but rather an adaptation, making significant changes tailored to Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran.
Despite expectations of criticism for drawing from ‘Ugramm’s’ essence while adopting the cinematic style of ‘KGF’, Prasanth Neel viewed it as a compliment. He sees both films as his creations, carefully shaping their worlds and characters.
‘Salaar’ unfolds in the fictional city of Khansaar and follows the story of two friends, Deva and Vardha, portrayed by Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran, whose friendship turns into a rivalry. Directed by Prashanth Neel, the movie also features Shruti Haasan.
