In a recent development in Karnataka, a woman who used to work as a cook in MP Prajwal Revanna’s residence came forward to share her harrowing experiences. She filed a complaint against Prajwal Revanna and his father, HD Revanna, alleging sexual assault.
What the victim said?
According to the victim’s statement to the police, there was a constant fear among the female staff whenever Prajwal Revanna was around. She claimed that both father and son would often sexually assault women workers in their household.
The victim recounted instances where HD Revanna would call women to the storeroom under the pretext of giving them fruits, only to sexually assault them. She also alleged that Prajwal misbehaved with her daughter during a video call, prompting her to block his number.
The decision to file a complaint was spurred by the alleged obscene video controversy surrounding Prajwal Revanna. Prajwal, the grandson of former Prime Minister H.D. Devegowda, is currently serving as the Member of Parliament from the Hassan constituency.
Following a letter from the Chairperson of the Women’s Commission, the Karnataka government formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the alleged sex scandal. The SIT, headed by IPS officer Vijay Kumar Singh, will investigate the case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.
Meanwhile, BJP Leader Devaraje Gowda claimed to have raised concerns about the allegations against the Deve Gowda family, including Prajwal Revanna, in a letter to the state president. He alleged the existence of explicit videos used for blackmailing women.

Prajwal Revanna, denying the allegations, filed a police complaint stating that the videos were doctored to tarnish his image. He left for Germany shortly after the emergence of the videos, amid mounting controversy.
The scandal has ignited a political feud between the JD(S) and the BJP. While the BJP distanced itself from Prajwal Revanna, JD(S) leaders emphasized the need for a thorough investigation. Some JD(S) members demanded Prajwal’s suspension, expressing embarrassment over the circulating videos.
On the other hand, the Congress accused the BJP of aiding Prajwal Revanna in fleeing the country and staged protests demanding his immediate arrest.
