Prabhas rejected Deepika Padukone’s female centric film?
Prabhas is one of India’s most popular actors, especially known for his work in the Baahubali films. However, many people might not know that he was once offered an important role in the film Padmaavat, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. This 2018 movie stars Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh and became a big hit.
The role that Prabhas was offered was that of Maharawal Ratan Singh, a Rajput king from the early 1300s. Bhansali had a strong interest in casting Prabhas because he was impressed by Prabhas’ acting in Baahubali. The director thought Prabhas would bring the right energy and presence to this character, and his widespread popularity was a significant reason for the casting choice.
Despite the appealing offer, Prabhas decided to decline the role. Eventually, the part went to Shahid Kapoor, who played Maharawal Ratan Singh effectively and contributed to the film’s success.
So, why did Prabhas refuse such a high-profile role? At the time, he was busy filming Baahubali 2. When he reviewed the script for Padmaavat and learned more about his character, he felt that the role wasn’t as exciting as he had hoped. Prabhas believed that the character of Maharawal Ratan Singh lacked the depth and glamor that he had enjoyed in his previous roles, especially when compared to his iconic character in Baahubali.
There are also speculations that Prabhas was concerned about taking a role that might not match the high reputation he had built after the success of Baahubali. He wanted a more significant role that would be as prominent as Deepika Padukone’s character in the film. Ultimately, he felt that Maharawal Ratan Singh did not provide that level of prominence.
Currently, Prabhas remains active in the film industry, working on several exciting projects like The Raja Saab, Fauji, Spirit, and Salaar 2.
