The trend of re-releases is picking up in Tollywood now. It is not new to have blockbuster movies of star heroes screened as special shows. It’s long been persisting. Nowadays, old movies are being released like new movies.. Tickets are being sold like hotcakes. Fans dance to the steps of their fav hero.. The trend has gained momentum recently. We have been seeing this trend since ‘Pokiri’ was re-released last year.
Even after Pawan Kalyan’s movies ‘Jalsa’ and ‘Khushi’, there was a massive commotion in the theatres. Fans really enjoyed watching the films.
Now another movie is being planned for re-release in theatres. It’s not a blockbuster though. ‘Gudumba Shankar’ was conceptualised to make it a pure mass entertainer after Pawan Kalyan’s poor show at the box office with ‘Johnny’. It was released in 2004 amid huge expectations. But this too failed to meet the expectations of investors and stakeholders.
But luckily, the Powerstars’ looks, swag, stunts in the movie, songs, and fight sequences were received well by fans and the film eventually got reasonably good applause at that end. There are opinions expressed among the fans that the film would have been a blockbuster if it had been improved a bit more.
This movie is going to be re-released on September 2 this year coinciding with Pawan’s birthday. People associated with Powerstar’s fan clubs are also planning a pre-release event for this re-release film. Isn’t this something new that we have never witnessed before?
