The focus is now on Gadar 2’s box office performance as it carries forward the story with Sunny Deol reprising his role as Tara Singh and Ameesha Patel as Sakina.
However, a boycott movement against Gadar 2 has emerged in Gurdaspur, fueled by Sunny Deol’s failure to visit the area during a trip to Sri Darbar Sahib in Amritsar. Given that Gurdaspur is Sunny Deol’s parliamentary constituency, his absence has triggered calls for boycotting the film, a sentiment evident through online images of protestors with banners.
Under the direction of Anil Sharma, Gadar 2 delves into themes of love, paternal bonds, and the intricate backdrop of India-Pakistan politics. Garnering attention, the trailer and songs like “Main Nikla Gaddi Leke” set the stage for the film’s release.
August 11th adds further intrigue as Gadar 2 faces off against Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2, harkening back to the iconic clash between Gadar: Ek Prem Katha and Aamir Khan’s Lagaan in 2001. Additionally, Rajinikanth and Tamannaah Bhatia’s film Jailer is slated for release on August 10.
