Purananooru: Sudha Kongara and Suriya impressed audiences with their last film, Soorarai Pottru. Fans were excited about their next project together but it seems this collaboration will be delayed. A report by trustable sources suggests that Sudha Kongara and Suriya have parted ways for their upcoming film, Purananooru. Instead of Suriya, Dhanush might take the lead role in this movie.
There are rumors that Sudha Kongara and Suriya separated due to creative differences over Purananooru. Despite this, their split was reportedly amicable. The director is now considering Dhanush for the lead role and is also in talks with Sivakarthikeyan to replace Dulquer Salmaan. However, there has been no official confirmation from the filmmakers yet.
Purananooru:
Purananooru is believed to be based on the 1965 Hindi imposition movement in Tamil Nadu and the protests that followed. Initially, it was supposed to be Suriya’s next project after completing Kanguva, featuring him as a college student. The movie was also expected to star Nazriya Nazim, Dulquer Salmaan, and Vijay Varma in significant roles. However, the project faced delays due to extensive pre-production work.
Currently, Sudha Kongara is preparing for the release of her Hindi movie Sarfira, starring Akshay Kumar. This film is the official Hindi remake of Soorarai Pottru, with Suriya making a cameo appearance.
On the work front, Suriya is gearing up for the release of his much-anticipated fantasy action movie Kanguva, directed by Siva. Scheduled for release on October 10, 2024,
Kanguva marks the debut of actors Disha Patani and Bobby Deol in leading roles. This film is one of the most expensive productions in India and features a star-studded cast including Natarajan Subramaniam, Jagapathi Babu, Yogi Babu, and Redin Kingsley.
Apart from Kanguva Suriya is currently working on another film tentatively titled Suriya 44 directed by Karthik Subbaraj. This movie will also feature Pooja Hegde as the leading lady, marking her first collaboration with Suriya.
