Director Ram Gopal Varma has lost all the charm and respect he used to have a decade ago. He is not the same Varma anymore. The Varma who made Shiva, Govinda Govinda, Rangeela and Satya is not there now and all we have is the Varma who makes sleazy and controversial films.
Last month, he came up with the film Amma Rajyamlo Kadapa Biddalu, which was an epic failure. Varma made that film only to gain publicity and create controversies among the Telugu political circles. Last week, he released another film called Beautiful, which is more for a romantic film and less for a B-grade film.
Varma made a lot of publicity for this film. He arranged a live vodka party on Facebook, danced along with the heroine at the pre-release event and also termed the movie as an ode to his classic Rangeela. None of these gimmicks has made the audience to turn up to the theatres. The film had hit the screens on the 1st of January and since the release day, no one is really showing interest in watching it. There are barely 10-20 members sitting in every theatre the film is playing in. Thus, it is now proved that Varma can sell his movies with publicity anymore.
