Netflix, one of the most popular OTT platforms in India, offers quality content, and despite its costly plans, viewers prefer subscribing to it. However, Netflix users in India have recently received some unfortunate news.
The streaming giant announced a new policy that will make it difficult for users to share their account passwords with friends or family outside their households. This means that Indian users will no longer be able to enjoy Netflix with their buddies across the street or their cousins in another city.
Netflix has already started emailing its Indian users about the new policy, which states that “A Netflix account is for use by one household. Everyone living in that household can use Netflix wherever they are — at home, on the go, on holiday.”
While this move is likely aimed at cracking down on password sharing, it is bound to disappoint many users who have grown accustomed to sharing their Netflix accounts with others.
This news comes when the competition in the Indian OTT market is heating up, with more and more players entering the fray. With Netflix’s subscription plans already priced higher than many of its competitors, the new policy may not sit well with some users. Nevertheless, Netflix remains one of the most popular streaming platforms in India, and it continues to attract a large user base despite the change.
