Nani, one of Tollywood’s hardworking stars, has been an inspiration to many. His much-anticipated film, Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, was officially launched in Hyderabad, marking a departure from his recent successes. The movie, penned and directed by Vivek Athreya, is produced by DVV Danayya.
Nani is currently riding high on the success of Dasara, and the early buzz around his upcoming emotional drama, Hi Nanna, is quite promising. However, he is now taking a bold step into the world of unabashed commercial entertainment with Saripodhaa Sanivaaram.
What makes this a notable gamble is that Nani is teaming up with individuals who haven’t had recent successes in Telugu cinema. The film’s leading lady, Priyanka Arul Mohan, is undoubtedly graceful and beautiful. However, her debut Telugu film, Gang Leader, failed to leave a significant impact, and her performance went largely unnoticed. Director-turned-actor SJ Suryah plays the antagonist in the film, and his last Telugu project, SPYder, was a major disappointment, despite earning him acclaim for his performance. Nonetheless, SJ Suryah has gained a strong following in recent years, thanks to his entertaining roles in other languages. He is undoubtedly an asset to Nani’s film.
Director Vivek Athreya also faced challenges with his last film, Ante Sundaraniki. While it found favor with a niche audience, the majority considered it lengthy and not suitable for a theatrical viewing. However, Vivek Athreya represents the emerging wave of unconventional yet sensible cinema in Tollywood. With Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, one can only hope that he achieves a significant box office success. Nani’s willingness to take such a gamble showcases his commitment to exploring different genres and collaborating with diverse talents in the industry.
