A couple of months ago, popular producer D. Suresh Babu stated in a press meet that he has acquired the remake rights of Hindi hit, De De Pyaar De and is planning to remake it in Telugu with his brother Venkatesh as the lead. It was also reported that Tabu and Rakul Preet, who acted in the original, will reprise their roles as female leads in this movie as well.
But, the latest grapevine suggests that Suresh Babu has withdrawn this idea due to the result of Nagarjuna’s Manmadhudu 2. This recent film also featured an unusual love story between people of heavy age gaps, which is also similar to the plot-line of De De Pyaar De. Manmadhudu 2 was a disaster and viewers couldn’t digest Nag romancing younger heroines. That criticism alerted Suresh Babu and apparently, he now decided to keep that idea aside and asked Pelli Choopulu director Tharun Bhascker to do a fresh film with Venky. This new project is expected to go on floors by the end of this year.
