Mr. Bachchan Day 1 collections: Ravi Teja’s latest film, Mr. Bachchan, directed by Harish Shankar, was released on Independence Day but received a lukewarm response at the box office. Despite high expectations and significant pre-release buzz, the movie managed to collect only Rs. 3.5 crores on its opening day in India, which was below industry expectations.
According to reports, the movie saw an overall occupancy of 41.18% across Telugu-speaking regions on its first day. The best turnout was during the afternoon shows, peaking at 53.75% occupancy. However, morning and night shows saw lower attendance at 35.04% and 30.73%, respectively.
Mr. Bachchan is a Telugu adaptation of the 2018 Bollywood film Raid, which featured Ajay Devgn in the lead role. The plot revolves around an intense income tax raid, with Ravi Teja portraying a determined government officer heading the operation. Although the film retains the essence of the original, the makers added elements tailored to suit the local audience. Despite these efforts, the film struggled to create a strong impact and fell short of delivering the anticipated box office results.
Jagapathi Babu plays the antagonist in the movie, while Bhagyashri Borse makes her Tollywood debut as the female lead. The film’s below-par opening performance may also be attributed to its release date, which clashed with several other films hitting theaters on Independence Day, leading to stiff competition.
It remains to be seen how Mr. Bachchan will fare in the coming days. The weekend box office results will be crucial in determining whether the film can pick up momentum or continue to struggle amidst the competition.
This was supposed to be a major hit for Ravi Teja, especially considering the popularity of the original story and his star power. However, the crowded release date and average reviews have posed challenges for the film’s box office journey.
