“When it comes to bike riding, safety goes for a toss. Everyone takes it very lightly. But safety is more important than anything in life,” says Supreme Star Sai Dharam Tej pointing at the helmet that saved his life when he fell off his sports bike near Ikea on that fateful day, two years ago.
The actor brought along the helmet before he began chatting with the media. His much-awaited period drama titled ‘Virupaksha’ is set to release in theatres on Friday.
In his maiden interview with web and print media journalists post the traumatic road accident, the actor shared his life and recalled the day when he fell off the sports bike on that fateful day near Ikea and how his life transformed after the incident.
Q) How does the accident transform you as a person? You transformed into a tremendous dimension, beaming with confidence.
Actually speaking, nothing of the sort happened. Probably, it may be because age is creeping up on me. Second thing is, I have shed some naughtiness that you usually see in a youngster (laughs). Responsibility is increased. I used to believe in spreading smiles, but now I want to spread laughter. I believe in happiness, we’re bound to break records. Every week there is a record and they’re meant to be broken.
Speaking on ‘Virupaksha’, the ‘Republic’ actor says the film is set in the late ’80s and early ’90s. “The story runs through this time frame. A village is cursed with mysterious deaths. Black magic is used against the villagers to attain evil and selfish purposes. How the mystery unravels is the story. More than the horror elements, the underlying theme in the film is a mystery. ‘Virupaksha’ is associated with Lord Shiva. It means an invisible eye. An eye which has no proper structure or shape,” adds Dharam Tej.
Starring Sai Dharam Tej, Samyuktha Menon in the lead roles, the film features Sunil, Rajiv Kanakala, Ajay, senior actor Sai Chand and Brahmaji in key roles. Directed by Karthik Varma Dandu, ‘Virupaksha’ is bankrolled by BVSN Prasad under the banner Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra.
