Except: The intimate scenes featuring Mehreen in her latest OTT series caught significant attention on social media, where some individuals incorrectly labeled them as ‘sex scenes.’ This mischaracterization deeply troubled Mehreen, prompting her to address the issue on her Instagram account.
Mehreen Pirzada recently marked her OTT debut with the series “Sultan Of Delhi,” where she portrayed the character of ‘Sanjana’ in this period crime thriller adaptation from the book “Sultan of Delhi: Ascension.”
Nevertheless, the intimate moments featuring Mehreen within the show have garnered notable attention on social media. Certain individuals have categorized these scenes as ‘sex scenes,’ which deeply disturbed Mehreen. In response to this, she chose to address the matter on her Instagram.
Mehreen elaborated that, as a dedicated professional actor, she was compelled to agree these scenes as they were integral to the storyline. However, she stressed that these scenes should be perceived as representations of a distressing instance of marital rape, rather than being reduced to mere ‘sex scenes.’ Her sincere desire was for people to comprehend the gravity of violence against women and refrain from trivializing it by categorizing it as a mere “sex clip.”
She strongly reacted at the media for inaccurately characterizing these moments as sex scenes, emphasizing that it was a disservice to the serious issue portrayed in the series.
Taking to her social media platform, Mehreen shared the following statement, “I recently made my debut on the OTT platform in the web series, ‘Sultan of Delhi,’ available on Disney Hotstar. I hope my fans have found enjoyment in watching the series. Occasionally, scripts demand actions that may conflict with personal morals. As a professional actor who views acting as both an art and a profession, one must perform scenes that may be unsettling when they serve a vital role in the narrative. In ‘Sultan Of Delhi,’ there was a scene that depicted a harrowing case of marital rape. It saddens me to witness that a serious matter like marital rape has been labeled by numerous media outlets as a ‘Sex Scene.’ This diminishes the significance of a grave issue that countless women across the globe are currently grappling with.”
