Tollywood actress Mehreen Pirzada encountered an embarrassing situation after the US authorities had stopped and enquired her in the ongoing Tollywood prostitution racket that has got the Telugu cinema entangled itself.
Recounting the harrowing experience, Mehreen said, “I am shocked. It was so embarrassing. I was constantly travelling and wasn’t aware of the emergence of news regarding such illegitimate activities.” Mehreen after wrapping up her Telugu film Pantham was on her way to the US for a three-day trip from Vancouver. Upon revealing that she was a Telugu actress, the US Department of Homeland & Immigration stopped and grilled her for 30-minutes.

“The immigration officials politely told me that there was a serious racket that they were investigating and that they were questioning everybody from the Telugu film industry travelling to the US. I told them that I visited both Canada and the US often because I had family there. Although they apologized for the inconvenience, they said that they would continue to question people until all those involved in the racket were taken to task,” Mehreen adds.
The actress who went through the bad ordeal at the US airport, says, “Their impression of Telugu actors is really embarrassing. As an artiste, I felt it was a very awkward situation.”
Earlier, we told you that an Indian couple identified as Modugumudi Kishan (34) and his wife Chandra (31) were arrested by the US officials. Modugumudi Kishan is said to be a businessman who had produced some major chunks of films in Tollywood. His wife Chandra used to keep the track of liaisons in the ledgers book with writing the amount charged for the sexual encounter.
A few days back anchor-turned-actress Anasuya Bharadwaj has also opened up about the ongoing issue and how she encountered an unpleasant experience from the NRI couple who were running the sex racket.
Anasuya says, “I haven’t visited the United States for a long time. I attended an event with music composer Devi Sri Prasad way back in 2014. In 2016, Sreeraj contacted me from his American number, asking me to attend a Telugu association event. I was uncomfortable with the way he spoke. He was talking about making a commitment. I refused to attend the event. Despite my refusal, he put my picture on poster. I tweeted saying I have nothing to with the event.”
