‘Mugguru Rajakumarulu’, by this we mean the sons of the three political ‘kings’ who have engraved their name in the political spectrum of the Telugu states and we are yet to see how their descendants carry their father’s legacy.
We have Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao, better known as KTR, son of K Chandrasekhar in Telangana. Then, we have YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, son of Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, former chief minister of then Andhra Pradesh and then latest entrant is Lokesh, son of Nara Chandrababu Naidu, AP chief minister. We are going to break it down how successful these ‘rajakumarulu’ are in carrying up their father’s legacy.
- KTR
Not only his party-men and senior leaders but public also has a strong conviction that KTR is an undisputable political scion to KCR. ‘Like father like son‘ dictum fits perfect for KTR, as he has got the gift of oratory like KCR. Apart from holding a professional qualification, he has proved his might by taking on whirlwind tours, extensive meeting with foreign delegates and putting up very own T-Hub in Hyderabad, enriching the state further.
Social media savvy
In the fast-paced life where communication has become hands-on things, IT minister KTR is pro at it. If you have been following KTR’s Twitter handle then you know how he is quite active on it. From sending information across to helping the public and hearing public griveances, he is the best.
2. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy
YS Jagan’s father YS Rajasekhara Reddy, fondly referred YSR, had been the leader of masses. YSR’s historic padayatra undertook in 2003 has gone down in political history for covering the length and breadth of then undived Andhra Pradesh. He has a goodwill in the public till date, and his son businessman-turned-politician YS Jagan is continuing the legacy after his after’s demise.
Praja Sankalpa Yatra
Like his father, YS Jagan too embarked on Praja Sankalpa Yatra. The padayatra is receiving an overwhelming response from the public, where e see his every public gathering attended by a sea of humanity. YS Jagan has learned the nuances of politics and is the sole Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh giving a tight competition to the ruling TDP. Unlike 2014, Jagan has bright chances in coming assembly election in 2019.
3. Lokesh
His identity, as of now, is the son of AP chief minister Chandrababu Naidu. The IT minister is learning the things, however, his lacks the gift of gab unlike KTR and YS Jagan who has the stature to reach and connect to masses.
There were many eyebrows raised when he was inducted into the cabinet as the minister without even contesting the elections. This itself has proved how farce the political scenario has become.
Lokesh is not even social-media savvy and hardly makes any effort to connect with the public though it. His speeches are often unprepared and is even mocked by his partymen.
Lokesh, unlike KTR and Jagan, seems to be the odd one, who doesn’t fit the bill. Well, we have to see till then if he learns the tricks of the trade in coming days.
