Matka box office collection day 1
Varun Tej’s latest film Matka, a period action drama based on the life of a gambler named Ratan Khetri, hit theaters worldwide on November 14, 2024. Directed by Karuna Kumar, the movie has received mixed reviews, with many describing it as an average film. Set between 1958 and 1982 in Visakhapatnam, the movie was initially going to be titled “Bracket” due to the popularity of the gambling game it focuses on.
Matka features Varun Tej in the lead role as Matka Vasu, with Meenakshi Chaudhary playing Sujatha and Nora Fatehi portraying Sofia. The supporting cast includes Saloni Aswani, P. Ravi Shankar, Kishore, Naveen Chandra, and Ajay Ghosh.

According to early predictions, Matka is expected to earn around ₹0.13 crore on its opening day, with an occupancy rate of about 15.59%. This underwhelming response could affect the film’s box office performance in the coming days.
The movie’s technical team includes G.V. Prakash Kumar, who composed the music, A. Kishor Kumar as the cinematographer, and Karthika Srinivas as the editor. The film was produced by Vijender Reddy Teegala and Rajani Talluri under the Vyra Entertainment and SRT Entertainments banners.
Though Karuna Kumar gained recognition in Tollywood with his debut film Palasa, Matka seems to have fallen short of audience expectations.
