It is only in India, theatres aren’t open but elsewhere in Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Germany and France, films are being screened. The pandemic had effected the world’s economy and the entertainment sector is the worst hit. Since shootings are stopped at various stages of making, there won’t be any new releases in India for some time; but despite the pandemic Thalapathy Vijay’s Bigil has been re-released across the globe especially in Sri Lanka, Germany.
A Twitter user shared a screenshot of Bigil being listed for the 10 pm show at a theatre in Sri Lanka. Apart from Bigil, Vijay’s Mersal and Sarkar are now running in theatres across Malaysia. His fans were eagerly waiting to watch Vijay’s Master, which was supposed to hit the theatres on April 9 but due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, theatres across the country remained shut, which led to the postponement of Master. Recently, Master’s producer Xavier Britto revealed that the film will release only in theatres and not on OTT platforms as speculated. Theatre owners, exhibitors and distributors believe that big films like Master can bring back the crowd to the theatres.
