Who can forget Mani Ratnam’s blockbuster film Roja that released in 1992? Starring Aravind Swami and Madhubala as the lead actors set against the backdrop of Indian Army, the movie was a huge hit for its plot and AR Rahman’s ear-worm songs. For the past few days speculations were rife that Mani Ratnam would be making Roja sequel starring Dulquer Salmaan. It further stated that the film would be helmed before Ponniyin Selvan.
So is the Roja sequel happening? The team close to Mani Ratnam has cleared the air on the rumours calling it baseless. The team said that Ponniyin Selvan is the dream project of the ace filmmaker and no other project would be taken up before this. A source informs, “Mani Ratnam’s dream movie is ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ and no other movie is planned to be made before that”
Ponniyin Selvan boasts of an ensemble star cast – Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Vikram Prabhu, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, and Aditi Rao Hydari among others.
