Putham Pudhu Kaalai brings together 5 celebrated directors in Tamil cinema – Sudha Kongara, Gautham Menon, Suhasini Mani Ratman, Rajiv Menon, and Karthik Subbaraj to create Amazon Prime Video’s first Indian anthology film. Renowned director Mani Ratnam and A.R. Rahman unveiled the eagerly awaited trailer for the Amazon Original Tamil film Putham Pudhu Kaalai, an anthology of five short films.
Each film is centred on a unique theme of love, new beginnings, second chances, and a glimmer of hope- set and filmed in the times of the nationwide lockdown. The anthology marks the union of filmmakers whose films with a distinctive storyline, characterisation and narrative, are seamlessly woven into the common theme of new beginnings.
These short films include Ilamai Idho Idho (directed by Sudha Kongara) starring Jayaram, Kalidas Jayaram, Urvashi and Kalyani Priyadarshan, Avarum Naanum/Avalum Naanum, (directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon) starring M.S. Bhaskar and Ritu Varma, Coffee, Anyone?, directed by and featuring Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Anu Hasan, Shruti Haasan, Reunion (directed by Rajiv Menon) starring, Andrea, Leela Samson and Sikkhil Gurucharan, Miracle (directed by Karthik Subbaraj) featuring Bobby Simha and Muthu Kumar.
