Malayalam actress Usha has shared a troubling experience from 1992 during a project involving Mohanlal. She recounted how a senior actor misbehaved with her in an elevator while they were working on a show in the Gulf. Usha immediately reacted by slapping the actor. She then reported the incident to Mohanlal, who supported her response. Despite this, she was labeled as ‘arrogant’ and faced a significant loss of work opportunities afterward.
At a recent press conference in Kannur, Usha explained that after the incident, she was shunned by the industry. She recalled how actor Sukumari also noticed something was wrong when she entered the elevator and later supported Usha’s actions. Usha’s decision to speak out led to negative consequences for her career, with many viewing her as problematic.
Usha mentioned that a video of the incident has recently surfaced, prompting her to discuss it now, even though she had addressed it at the time. This revelation comes amidst a broader conversation about misconduct in the Malayalam film industry, particularly as Mohanlal recently stepped down as President of AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artists) following similar allegations against some committee members.
