Amazon is out with its new biggie in the form of Mahaan starring the father and son Dhruv and Vikram. Read our review to know if the film has any juice in it or not.
Plot
Mahaarn is a sincere man who follows Gandhian principles. But as he breaks them and enters the liquor business, his wife leaves him. Years later, Mahaan’s son, Dada comes back to the scene wanting to finish the mafia setup and end his dad’s empire. How did he do that is the basic story.
Performances
Vikram is the best of the lot and has showcased two sides of his performance. He did well in all the scenes as a gangster and liquor mafia don. But he did amazingly well when he faces his son. Speaking of Dhruv, the son, he has also got a good role. Though he is no match to Vikram, Dhruv has also performed well in the film. Simran looks out of place and has not done a good job.
Analysis
The film is set amidst a mafia backdrop and has the first half filled with scenes of Vikram growing big in the business. This part is thought of well but is shown in so many films like SRK’s Raees.
This is also the time, there is nothing much happening in the film as the pace is slow and lengthy. Vikram keeps you hooked but the other scenes are boring. The music is good and the fights are also designed well. But all this only deviates from the topic.
The film enters the main story in the second half when Dhruv enters the scene. This is the time the film makes some sense as the father-son emotions are strong. But for this to come ahead, you have to sit through the boring first half. If you manage to do so, there is some masala. Well, do you have such patience, you decide for yourself now.
Bottom Line – Dull Father-son drama
