Actor Mansoor Ali Khan faced criticism from the Madras High Court, which dismissed his defamation case against Trisha and suggested that Trisha could have sued him instead. This legal issue stemmed from offensive comments made by Mansoor during a promotional interview for the movie “Leo” in November. He expressed disappointment for not having “rape scenes” in the film, where he had a minor role alongside Vijay and Trisha. Additionally, he made disrespectful comments about former actors-turned-politicians Roja and Kushbhu.
The High Court reprimanded Mansoor for his inappropriate behavior, reminding him of his influence as an actor on young people and urging him to act more responsibly. Following this incident, Trisha and several film personalities condemned Mansoor’s remarks, with support pouring in for Trisha from various quarters, including the National Commission for Women and industry associations like the Nadigar Sangam.
Mansoor initially defended his comments as comedy but later issued a partially remorseful apology, which Trisha accepted gracefully. However, he later retracted his apology, declaring his intent to file a defamation suit against Trisha, Kushbhu, and Chiranjeevi. The court, on December 10, criticized Mansoor for even filing such a case, questioning his actions. The high court pulled up Mansoor for his speech and said, “When you are an actor, youngsters look up to you as a role model. Is it right for you to behave in such an uncultured manner?”. Further, the court directed Mansoor’s advocate to advise the actor on how to behave in public spaces.
Mansoor’s conduct post the controversial interview has been erratic, including making threatening statements against the Nadigar Sangam. Despite his wavering stance, Trisha accepted his apology and chose to forgive him. However, Mansoor’s actions led to legal repercussions and disapproval from various quarters within the film industry.
