Uppena is a huge budget film, touted to be around 25 plus crores. Ideal for a theatrical release, the film has newcomers as the cast but the pivotal role is played by Vijay Sethupathi. After seeing his work, it is heard that the same production house wanted him in a similar role of a villain in Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa, directed by Sukumar. The actor is said to have quoted a huge amount as remuneration and the production house backed out.
There is another talk that he doesn’t like being the villain if it is a bi-lingual and claims that Tamil audience will not appreciate it. Finally, the availability of dates was cited as an issue. Now the latest news is that Madhavan would be doing it but Madhavan was quick to refute it and says ‘Not true at all guys.’
Madhavan had a bitter experience with Savyasachi and the just released Nishabdham. He might take a while before committing to another Telugu project. Looks like the PR is posting blind items to check the response of the artists before approaching them. Pushpa also has Prakash Raj and Jagapathi Babu, Harish Uthaman, Vennela Kishore and Anish Kuruvilla. There are reports that the makers are in talks with the Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty to play an important role as well.
