Love Story Movie Review

Sekhar Kammula is back with his latest offering Love Story which is out with solid occupancy. Read our review to find out if the film has any juice in it or not.

Plot

Revanth(Chay Akkineni) is a low caste dance teacher who falls in love with Mounika(Sai Pallavi). The couple decide to elope but Mounika’s dark past stops the the flow in the love story. How will Revanth solve this delicate issue forms the crux of Love Story.

Performances

Chay Akkineni shocks you with his maturity in his acting. The manner in which he delivers a sensible performance as the suppressed young adult is so good to see. Emotions wise, Chay has taken things to the next level with this film. Ananda Chakrapani is okay in his role.

If not for Sai Pallavi the heroine’s role would have become quite weak. She is one more solid pillar of the film. Rajeev Kanakala is smashing as the main villain and surprises you. Eswari Rai gets a impactful role.

Analysis

Love Story is filled with mature romance. The manner in which Sekhar Kammula deals with this love story is sensitive. There are no bubbly moments in the romance as things happen organically. The way love happens is also quite endearing to see.

The first half is filled with light romance and drama and establishes the characters. But the second half is filled with dark issues that haunt the society and Sekhar Kammula deals with them in a very mature manner and does not go overboard at all.

When things start getting slightly dull in the second half, the hit songs come to the rescue and save the narrative. The story is quite old but the presentation is new and has emotional outbursts.

Love Story might not be Sekhar Kammula’s best work to date but he makes sure that it is not all breezy moments and love should withstand all issues in life and win over them. In that angle, Love Story is a winner and makes up for a very endearing film to give a shot.

Bottom Line – Drama wins over romance
